I am intrigued as every year in Auckland the traffic increases significantly. In fact, I did an experiment for 3 days.
It seemed to me that this is top of mind topic for most. I worked out that in 3 days I spent 9 hours on the road sitting in traffic. Of the 10 meetings I had they all started off with a comment on traffic and how much worse it had become. People I met in the car parking buildings were disgruntled after spending nearly two hours to get to the city.
Auckland is obsessed with traffic – I would go to say it controls us.
Let’s look at the stats – that’s on average 15 hours per week, 66 hours per month and around 800 hours a year sitting in traffic.
If amplified personal productivity is the KEY to success on so many levels – with a healthy body, much lower stress levels, personal self satisfaction, a clear more focussed mindset, and business efficiency AND the results are well researched and documented then why aren’t more of us doing something about it?
What will drive change?
- Driverless cars are being developed now – imagine having a car that takes you to where you want to go when you want to – but it won’t solve the traffic mayhem.
- Technology is getting smarter – it is so easy and inexpensive to implement technology that allows you to see and do business on line – like webinar technology where on line meetings can be run from anywhere.
- Have an organised task list of who you need to contact and be clear in the outcome – use the bluetooth technologies available in most new cars – its getting really sophisticated – voice activated messaging or calling – be prepared though with what you want to achieve from the calls.
So what is your definition of #amplified personal productivity and where are you at in achieving that today?
The reality is that the traffic will always be there. And next time you are sitting in traffic, of course use the #%$^& but at the end of the day, it’s really up to you to amplify your own success.
